Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1858 at Chester Road by the United Methodist Free Churches, which became part of the United Methodist Church in 1907. Rebuilt in 1898 as the Zion Chapel, and the original buildings continued in use as a Sunday School. Closed in 1965 and succeeded by Helsby New Chapel.
